500 Years of Reformation - 500 Trees for Wittenberg

"Even if I knew that the world were to collapse tomorrow, I would still plant my apple tree today" (ascribed to Martin Luther).

As a means of giving expression to the 500 yeas of Reformation, the Luthergarten (Luthergarden) has been established in Wittenberg on the grounds of the former town fortifications. In connection with this project, 500 trees will be planted at different places in the city region, sponsored by different Churches from all around the world and many different confessions, giving a concrete sign of the optimism so clearly expressed in Luther's apple tree quote.  Find out more.

The Story Mobile Roadmap and Reformation Summer in Germany

Few historical events have changed Europe as greatly as the Reformation did. A social earthquake, with epicentres in Wittenberg, Zurich, Geneva and many other places, it stirred up relationships everywhere. The momentum carried it out from Europe to other continents, shaping cultures and religions.

As of November 2016 the European Roadmap will forge a bond between these different places, including Liverpool, Cambridge and London in February 2017. In May 2017 the route will wend its way to Central Germany and end up in Wittenberg at the World Reformation Exhibition in the Reformation Summer 2017.
